GAIN STAGING - the balancing of elements.

PROCESSING - giving the individual elements character, separation and space using EQ, compression and saturation.

FX - adding FX such as reverb and delay creating a space around sounds.

AUTOMATION - automating the volumes of certain elements or the volumes of reverbs and delays to give the song a special feel.
